The Adult Hydrocephalus Center at The Sandra and Malcolm Berman Brain & Spine Institute provides internationally recognized expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, long-term care, and management of adults with hydrocephalus. Physical therapy is an integral part of the hydrocephalus multi-disciplinary team. Qualifying patients undergo testing to determine appropriateness of surgical intervention for the control of hydrocephalus.
The physical therapist performs pre and post intervention testing of function, balance, and gait disturbances typical of a patient with hydrocephalus. These results provide useful data for the physician in order to collaboratively determine appropriate recommendations for treatment.
